Relay for Life

Roadrunners Run Cancer Into The Ground

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life movement is the world's largest and most impacting fundraising event to end cancer. It unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all. With the support of thousands of volunteers like you, the American Cancer Society is helping save more than 500 lives a day. Please join us and take action against a disease that has taken too much!

Cancer continues to affect the lives of everyday people here in Southeastern, NC. All of us know someone that has been touched by Cancer – a family member, a neighbor, someone at work or a friend and maybe even a fellow runner. The American Cancer Society’s goal is to have more people survive cancer so they can celebrate another birthday. Over the last three years our club has raised about $15,000. This year we have an opportunity to help raise even more funds for the American Cancer Society as our goal is $10,000. The Relay for Life is at Ashley High School on April 23th and goes from Noon to Midnight. Come and join us and you can get a workout running around the track and the satisfaction of supporting a very worthy cause just by running.

Each year the club participates as a team in the Relay For Life and in 2015 the club reached a goal of $10,000 raised.

What a major accomplishment for our Club. Not only can we compete in any cross country meet, but we can pull together and raise a HUGE amount of money for a very worthy cause. Cancer touches us all. Only by working together will we finish the fight. Again, thank you to all who participated and all for their generous donations.

Help us and participate in 2016 for our 5th year. “Run Cancer into the Ground”

Wilmington Road Runners Club will have a tent set up for the day with food and drinks and a place to gather. Come and plan your Saturday workout on the track. As we have done in the past we will keep a runner on the track throughout relay. We are planning a special social hour from 5:00pm to 8:00pm with more details to come, you won’t want to miss it. You don’t have to stay for the whole event, pick a time and come out and run with us during that time and then you are done. Last year we had 10 members that covered 13.1 miles. We need your help. For those that participate and raise money you will get Grand Prix points and the satisfaction of supporting a very worthy cause just by running around the track. Please consider joining us today
