From January 1st, eligible high school seniors can apply for the WRRC scholarship award. This week, we meet the Topsail High School seniors.
5. Topsail XC, Wilmington
Coaches: Wayne Rogers & William Dorn
Assistant: Jamie Franceschini
![]() Thank you to Coach Dorn for the write up! Topsail Senior Girls Sadie Boyle: Sadie was our rock as one of our captains this year. Even though she battled injury for most of the season, she was an indispensable leader. Alexus Rollins: Alexus worked hard and provided a lot of the comic relief for the women’s team. Stephanie Simmons: Stephanie very well could be the hardest worker on the team. She was one of our captains and cheered harder for her teammates than anyone. Alexis Walsh: Alexis is a four-year senior that has consistently pushed herself to do better. Bailey Wells: Bailey is a great runner with the work ethic to match. We could always count on her to provide a strong finish and stronger leadership. Topsail Senior Boys Jace Bean: Jace is good at challenging himself and reaching goals. You can’t be around him without having an interesting conversation. Brandon Hayes: Brandon is one of the most positive young men you’ll meet, but runs “mad” and it works for him. He is a mentor for the younger athletes. He works as hard as anyone. Brad Kimmel: Brad made it into the varsity top seven for the second year in a row and provided a strong finish at regionals to help the team qualify for states. Brendan Parella: As one of our captains, a four-year runner, and one of our strongest runners, Brendan was integral to the team’s success this year. His leadership is only outdone by his intelligence. Travis Souza: Even as our team’s number one runner, he always put the well-being of his team and each of his teammates ahead of himself. Travis embodies the idea of selfless service. |
